FEBRUARY SALES UP FOR SUZUKI AUTO

  • Suzuki sales up 3 percent for month
  • February sales bring 2008 volume to 15,920 vehicles
  • Year-to-date sales led by XL7 and SX4

Brea, Calif., (March 3, 2008) – American Suzuki Motor Corp. today announced automotive sales of 8,800 vehicles in February, an increase of 3 percent over last year's February figure. Suzuki Auto's strong February resulted in a total year-to-date sales volume of 15,920 vehicles.

February sales were led by Suzuki's midsize crossover SUV, the XL7, which sold 3,761 units. Competing with the XL7 for February volume supremacy were two variants of the media-acclaimed SX4. The SX4 Crossover, launched in late 2006, and SX4 Sport, introduced in the fourth quarter of 2007, posted February sales of 2,414 units, resulting in an impressive 93 percent year-over-year increase. Suzuki Auto expects to continue its 2008 sales momentum with the latest addition to its product line, the all-new Suzuki Equator midsize pickup truck, which is scheduled to begin arriving in showrooms by the fourth quarter of 2008.

“In spite of a challenging economic environment, we're encouraged to see that our brand is strong enough to weather the storm and secure a steady sales pace in 2008,” said Mark Harano, president of American Suzuki Automotive Operations. “Suzuki vehicles provide an exceptional amount of content at a reasonable price, which is a particularly attractive selling point to automotive shoppers looking for value.”
