BREA, CA (August 8, 2000) –Suzuki Marine, the world leader in fuel-injected four-stroke outboards, has added two important models to its line-up for 2001 – the new 90 and 115 EFI four-stroke motors. With these additions, Suzuki’s family of clean, efficient fuel-injected four-stroke motors has grown to six models – more than any other outboard manufacturer.

With fuel-injected four-stroke motors ranging from 40 to 115 horsepower, there’s a Suzuki model for just about any craft, from backwater Jon boats to ocean-going fishing boats. In addition to these models with electronic fuel injection, Suzuki also offers four carbureted four-stroke outboards in 9.9/15 and 25/30 horsepower models. All Suzuki four-stroke outboard motors meet EPA exhaust emissions standards for 2006.

Suzuki’s fuel-injected four-stroke motors are packed with innovative technical features designed to improve performance and efficiency. This is why Suzuki won the prestigious IMTEC Innovation Award two years in a row for its 40/50 and 60/70 four-strokes – the only time an outboard manufacturer has achieved this feat.

Following are selected highlights of Suzuki’s fuel-injected four-stroke outboards:

Suzuki 90/115 EFI Four-Strokes

These new-for-2001 models will provide clean, efficient power for a wide variety of fresh and saltwater boats. Suzuki’s new 1950cc four-cylinder marine engines feature a 16-valve, dual overhead cam (DOHC) design with an oil bathed timing chain under the powerhead, a tuned 4-2-1 performance exhaust system, digital EFI with high-performance plate injectors, a beefy 40-amp alternator and many other technical advancements. Special care was taken by Suzuki engineers to make these motors as quiet and smooth as they are powerful.

Suzuki 60/70 EFI Four-Strokes

Introduced in 1998, these were the first four-stroke outboards to feature digital electronic fuel injection. These award-winning four-cylinder motors – based on Suzuki’s proven in-line 1.3-liter automotive engine – are extremely popular with boaters and fishermen across the country, who appreciate their fuel efficiency, quiet operation and rugged dependability under tough conditions.

Suzuki 40/50 EFI Four-Strokes

Suzuki’s mid-range 40 and 50 horsepower four-strokes came onboard for the 1999 model year, bringing a whole new level of performance and technology to the category. The only outboards in the class to feature electronic fuel injection, these motors were instantly embraced by owners of pontoon boats, rigid bottom inflatables, aluminum fishing boats, and more. These award-winning motors are based on the three-cylinder in-line engine found in the Suzuki Wagon R mini van, one of the most popular cars in Japan. They were the first outboards to combine dual overhead cams, four-valves per cylinder, an oil-bathed, self-adjusting timing chain and a direct ignition system.

Suzuki offers a full line of outboard motors – both two-stroke and four-stroke models – from 5 to 225 horsepower.
